Old Stalker Endurance Artifacts
Modifies All Endurance Related Artifacts To Behave Similarly To Ones In The Old Stalker Trilogy, And Uncaps The Stamina Recharge Rate Stat.
Slavic Flash Returns!
Generally unsatisfied with how Artifacts are handled in Stalker 2, and a lot of other things, I decided to get into Modding and this is my first release. This was originally going to be part of a complete rework of all Artifacts but I decided to release this as a standalone on account of requests to do so.
What This Mod Does:
This mod adds a new Effect to all Artifacts which effect Endurance, this Effect reduces the Stamina Cost of all Stamina Consuming Actions (IE: Sprinting, Jumping, Melee Attacks etc) at rates of 10%/14%/17%/19%. The end result is that when you equip one of these Artifacts: Your Stamina will drain slower when performing them, giving you effectively more Stamina to work with and making these Artifacts considerably more useful to you.
This isn’t exactly how it used to function in the original 3 games, but from the Player’s point of view the effect is identical to just having more Stamina. So remember stacking Moonlights to run forever in Stalker SoC? Yeah that’s back now.
This mod also uncaps the Stamina Regeneration stat, which was insultingly bad, so now you get the full effect of every Artifact with Endurance bonuses you have equipped as a side bonus. I have not increased the values of this stat for artifacts or changed how it behaved because they seemed to be acceptable, but having to come to a dead stop to engage it was the annoying part that I found not good enough. This mod is my solution to get around that.
Installation:
To install this mod, place the “Old Stalker Endurance Artifacts.pak” file in your:
“Steam\steamapps\common\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Heart of Chornobyl\Stalker2\Content\Paks\~mods”
Folder, if there is no “~mods” folder inside the “Paks” folder, simply create a new folder there yourself and name it “~mods.” The game will recognize, read, and load the contents automatically for you.
To uninstall: Simply delete the “Old Stalker Endurance Artifacts.pak” file from the “~mods” folder.
Issues:
To be safe, make sure you unequip all Artifacts from your Artifact slots before loading this mod.
Some similar mods that effect Artifacts have noted that they may not update correctly when equipped, however I myself did not encounter this problem while testing installing or uninstalling the mod.
Any mod which effects the following files:
ArtifactPrototypes.cfg
EffectPrototypes.cfg
ObjEffectMaxParamsPrototypes.cfg
May conflict with this mod.
If you encounter any issues with the mod, leave a post and I’ll see what I can do!
Author’s Notes:
Anyone familiar with the old Stalker games probably understands why Endurance Artifacts were changed, it’s because the bonus is extremely desirable to the player, but so desirable it becomes increasingly difficult to justify ever putting it down. This means you have two options: Buff everything to be just as useful or get rid of it.
They chose “get rid of it,” however I believe they have also failed to deliver on an acceptable replacement, and honestly have botched their interpretation of Artifacts as a whole in Stalker 2.
SO WE RETURN TO THE OLD WAYS THEN! And all it took was cannibalizing the code for the energy drinks.
The values in this mod may seem low, but I actually cannot make them any higher, 5 Thunderberries with 20% reductions will actually give you infinite sprint. My intention for this mod, and any others I make changing artifacts, was for this to be good but not basically cheating so this is the logical limit. You actually have a lot more potentially maximum sprint than the old games, but Stalker 2 is also a much larger game so this somewhat balances out at the extreme end of things, and makes you less reliant on fast traveling, which I did not personally like.
Now Go! Run like a Shonen Anime Opening!
