Day-One Mods for STALKER 2: Gamers to Customize from the Start
If you’ve been a die-hard STALKER fan over the years, you probably know that mods have played a huge role in keeping the series alive and thriving. GSC Gameworld, the developer behind the much-anticipated STALKER 2, just dropped the first real trailer during the Xbox Games Showcase, and they confirmed something big: STALKER 2 will support mods right out of the gate on launch day.
After the trailer reveal, GSC followed up with an FAQ that offers a few more tidbits about what’s coming. For starters, yes, that is the legendary Stalker character staring at the camera in that final shot, and yes, there’s a brand-new anomaly we’ve never seen before – but it seems like we’ll have to wait to learn more about those mysteries.
As for mods, GSC didn’t go into much detail but assured fans with this promising statement: “We’re fully committed to making modding as simple as possible on day one.” Short and sweet, but packed with potential. It sounds like modders will have everything they need to start creating custom content the moment the game drops.
Thankfully, we won’t need an immediate visual overhaul mod like the classic STALKER Complete 2009, because STALKER 2 is already shaping up to look incredible. It’s powered by Unreal Engine, with motion capture for characters and facial animations, plus photorealistic textures thanks to photogrammetry.
Of course, the game takes place in the iconic Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, with a mix of fresh new locations and some familiar ones that long-time players will instantly recognize.
“We’re excited about all the new things we’re adding, and we think you’re going to love them,” GSC writes.
