Elemental Artifacts

A redesign of artifacts based on an elemental type system (fire, electric, chemical, gravity, and psi). Artifacts now provide protection and stat enhancements tied to their element along with weaknesses and debuffs to their opposing element, creating meaningful choices as you choose which to equip.

This mod balances artifacts using an elemental system based on anomaly types to create strengths and weaknesses. Each element has its own set of buffs (and debuffs to the stats of its weak element), so if you want a specific type of buff the best way to find it is by heading to the corresponding anomaly.

Artifacts come with protection to their own element and lowered protection to their weak element. You can balance your artifacts to eliminate weaknesses, or you can stack similar artifacts to achieve distinct strengths.

Most common and uncommon artifacts do not have radiation so that they can be used in the early game, but more powerful artifacts still have it.

Installation/Updates/Uninstallation
Be sure to unequip all artifacts before installing, uninstalling, or updating any artifact mod or risk becoming a snork. The game will not recognize which stats you are getting from artifacts and will mess up your character.

To install, simply drop Elemental_Artifacts.pak into your ~mods folder.
To uninstall, delete Elemental_Artifacts.pak from your ~mods folder.

Should be safe to add or remove mid-game as it does not create any new objects, but it’s always a good idea to have a backup save.

Compatibility
Modifies ArtifactPrototypes.cfg, so not compatible with other mods that change it.

Known Issues
Does not modify localization files for the sake of compatibility, so many artifact descriptions have inaccurate rarities and effects have imprecise descriptions. If you can’t figure out what an artifact does or think it’s broken, you can always check the list of artifacts to make sure.
Due to the way certain effects are calculated, some stats scale exponentially in power as they are stacked (eg, fire rate). I can’t change the formulas, so it is what it is.
With enough draw speed artifacts, switching from a pistol to another weapon may cause that weapon to become invisible (due to the innate enhanced draw speed of pistols). Holstering or swapping to another weapon will fix it.
