Euchre’s Engine.ini Tweaks
A somewhat targeted ini tweak for 6600XT 8GBs.
The goal here is to achieve a playable framerate for my specific rig configuration, but I’m uploading the details to help anyone else as much as I can.
HoC is crazy unoptimized in my unprofessional opinion, and I am a very amateur “configger” (I dare not call myself a modder).
I find that the framerate that I’m achieving doesn’t last forever, but that has yet to be the case regardless of however many different changes I attempt to make this game more playable.
Please do not tell me about bugs or anything, I am tuning this to my specific set up with the hopes that it might help the odd individual. If you have solutions to known problems (see the bottom) feel free to offer them.
I will also be sharing my in-game graphics settings, as well.
I am using frame generation, but only because I have gotten the raw framerate up to a level where I do not feel much, if any, input lag and I am comfortable with making some concessions such as frame gen.
Framerate is floaty, but when it’s working I’ve seen it go anywhere between 60 and 110 FPS (per AMD Adrenalin FPS Tracker)
My relevant details are as follows:
CPU: AMD 5900X
GPU: AMD 6600XT
RAM: Yes. There’s enough. Don’t ask.
I will be updating this as time goes on, depending on when I am satisfied with changes I make. I don’t know UE5 very well, so I’m mostly just taking what little crumbs I can find and making very small adjustments.
There’s a couple base points at play here.
VynnGfx’s .pak: https://www.nexusmods.com/stalker2heartofchornobyl/mods/7
Longerbeard’s Engine .ini: https://www.nexusmods.com/stalker2heartofchornobyl/mods/176
I am aware that I am not supposed to be running Vynn’s mod with other engine.ini’s.
Counter point: lemme do what I want.
Using Longerbeard’s ini as a starting point, here are the changes as I can remember them:
LOD bias has been tweaked,
Shader and Illumination tweaks have (as far as I can tell) been removed entirely
SSR quality has been diminished immensely because honestly who cares, if you don’t have a big beefy GPU? Also because rain makes running this game painful.
Currently trying:
To kill eye adaptation because it’s terrible. Longbeard’s config file… disables this, I guess? But I’ve noticed that looking outside at night while inside causes the outside to look like it’s daytime which is not what I want to see. This might not be the fault of the INI but rather my in-game settings.
Known problems:
Dying causes the fixes to take a hike
Alt-tabbing causes the fixes to hit the road
