GSC Game World Confirms Highly Requested Feature for STALKER 2
GSC Game World has confirmed that STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will support mods across all available platforms, including PC and Xbox Series X/S. This announcement follows significant anticipation from fans of the STALKER series, with the Unreal Engine 5-powered sequel set to launch on November 20 after several delays.
In August, Lead Producer Slava Lukyanenka shared the team’s commitment to delivering mod support for both the console and PC versions of STALKER 2. More recently, Technical Producer Evgeniy Kulik provided an update on this feature, which has been a core element of the original STALKER games and contributed to their status as some of the most acclaimed post-apocalyptic titles.
In an interview with Radio Times Gaming during an event at GSC Game World’s Prague office, Kulik confirmed that the studio is developing a robust modding toolkit for STALKER 2. This toolkit will equip fans with everything needed to create a range of mods, from minor tweaks to large-scale total conversions. Kulik also noted that some members of the development team were modders for the first STALKER games, which continue to enjoy active modding communities despite their age.
Console Mods Confirmed for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl
A high frame rate option may not be available in the Xbox Series S version of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. At Gamescom, Digital Foundry’s John Linneman noted that the demo ran at 60 FPS, but GSC Game World recently mentioned that the Xbox Series S version has struggled to consistently hit this performance level. Despite these challenges, the studio remains hopeful that they can achieve a stable 60 FPS on Microsoft’s less powerful current-gen console.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will launch on day one on Xbox Game Pass. November will also see several other exciting additions to the service, including Blizzard’s acclaimed StarCraft 2, the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator, and the indie platformer Nine Sols by Red Candle Games.
