More detailed LOD
Tired of seeing textures appear right in front of your eyes? This mod promises to fix it.
This mod is a simple edit of the Engine.ini file designed to enhance Level of Detail (LOD) settings in STALKER 2. It is completely safe to install and uninstall at any point.
Installation
Download the “More Detailed LOD” file from the Nexus Mods page.
Locate the folder containing your Engine.ini file. Possible locations include:
Windows (Steam):
%appdata%\Local\Stalker2\Saved\Config\Windows
Windows (Game Pass):
%appdata%\Local\Stalker2\Saved\Config\WinGDK
Steam Deck/Linux:
/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1623730/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Stalker2/Saved/Config/Windows
If an Engine.ini file already exists, simply drag and drop the modded Engine.ini file into the appropriate folder.
If no Engine.ini file is present, it’s fine to add the modded Engine.ini file directly to the folder.
Compatibility
If you are using other mods that edit the Engine.ini file, you can integrate this mod manually by adding the following lines under [SystemSettings]:[SystemSettings]
r.ViewDistanceScale=1.5
r.StaticMeshLODDistanceScale=0.5
foliage.LODDistanceScale=3
r.SkeletalMeshLODBias=-1
r.Shadow.CSM.MaxCascades=2

Testing Notes:
Large objects such as trees no longer pop in and out after applying this mod.
Grass rendering issues may persist in certain cases.
Performance Impact
This mod will increase VRAM usage.
RTX 40XX cards are recommended
Feel free to tweak the settings to achieve the best balance between performance and fidelity.
Warning
Currently, this is a “bandaid” fix. GSC are well aware of the texture pop in issues, so after getting some patches this mod might be removed.
