Old STALKER Gameplay Rebalance
Minimal style tweak aimed at fixing the ways veteran difficulty departs from how the original trilogy handled difficulty settings. Fixed it, it’s good now.
Vanilla veteran difficulty in STALKER 2 takes more after other, more recent games and mods with it’s bullet sponge enemies and tedious grinding that aren’t present in the original trilogy. Tested and tweaked as I played up, to the midway point of the game.
Veteran difficulty changes:
Weapon base damage increased from 75% to 100% base value
NPC weapons increased from 102% to 120% damage (may increase further)
Weapon degradation cut from 125% to 50%
Armor degradation increased from 90% back to base 100%
Satiety bumped from 100% to 150%
Main and Side Quest reward money increased from 75% to base 100%
Repair costs bumped down from 100% to 85%
Consumable costs bumped from 100% to 200% (they’re pretty plentiful anyway)
Bleed power increased from base to 300%
Mutant stat changes*:
Mutant health reduced by 10-20%
All the mutants other than fleshes, boars, rats and blind dogs have had their absurdly high physical armor values of 3-4 reduced by 1 (Controllers get 2 taken off their base of 4, comment if this feels overadjusted)
Mutant DegenBleeding values all increased from 1 -> 4.
*Snorks are not touched at all
I don’t actually know how much of an effect the DegenBleeding value has, the only mutant I’ve seen bleed out was a snork.
If it’s unmentioned, it’s untweaked. The two pak files only change mutant stat and difficulty config files, and should be compatible with anything else that doesn’t touch these.
To install, unzip the archive and extract the pak files to /S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Heart of Chornobyl/Stalker2/Content/Paks/~mods. Create the ~mods directory if you haven’t already.
