S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 – Gunfights with Bandits and Mutants
After offering a 35-minute gameplay deep dive last week, GSC Game World unveiled fresh footage of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl during the Xbox @ Gamescom livestream. This new gameplay showcases intense nighttime combat, where players face off against bandits and other terrifying dangers.
Although three bandits might not seem like a significant threat, players need to approach the situation with caution. This involves sneaking, using cover wisely, and relying on medkits, as enemies are quick to outgun and outflank. Then there are the Mutants, some of which can camouflage and launch surprise attacks before disappearing into the shadows.
Early encounters with these foes may be tough, but as players gather loot and upgrade their gear, they’ll become better equipped to handle the challenges. The game’s open world is rich with detail, offering unexpected encounters and “little stories” that enhance the sense of exploration.
The world map is so vast that even the developers continue to discover new things when revisiting areas. Players have a great deal of freedom in how they interact with the world, with choices that can be either merciful or cruel—though the game might make you pay for the latter.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is set to launch on November 20th for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
